句⇔節の書き換え
意味上の主語(S')・述語(V')・目的語(O')といった関係を、本当の主語(S)述語(V)に書き換えることを、句⇔節に書き換えるとも言います。動名詞での場合は、熟語の前置詞を覚えていることが重要です。
| 句⇔節での重要熟語 be sure of ⇔ be sure that ｢~を確信している｣ be proud of ⇔ be sure that ｢~を確信している｣ insist on ⇔ insist that ｢~を主張する｣ |
| ex | I am sure of his [him] succeeding in the exam. = I am sure that he will succeed in the exam. 「私は彼が試験に合格すると確信している」 |
節(S+V)に書き換えているので、接続詞のthatを使っています。下の例文のように他動詞の書き換えでは、もちろん前置詞は出てきません。
| ex | We don’t mind his [him] attending our party. = We don’t mind that we will attend our party. 「私達は彼がパーティーに出席してもかまいませんよ」 |
